Richard "Copped Hat" FitzAlan was born about 1313 in Arndel, Sussex, England and, died in Arundel, Sussex England on 24 Jan 1376; burial, Lewes, Sussex. to Edmond FitzAlan and Alice De Warren. He married, firstly, Isabel le Despenser, daughter of Hugh le Despenser, 1st Lord le Despenser and Lady Eleanor de Clare, on 9 February 1320/2. Children of Richard FitzAlan, 10th Earl of Arundel and Isabel le Despenser were: Isabel FitzAlan and Sir Edmund FitzAlan He married secondly, Eleanor Plantagenet, daughter of Henry Plantagenet, 3rd Earl of Lancaster and Matilda (Maude) de Chaworth, on 5 February 1345 at Ditton Church, Stoke Puges, Buckinghamshire, England. Eleanor Plantagenet was born 1311 in Grismond Castle, Monmouth, England.

John FitzAlan de Arundel born 1 August 1348 in Betchworth, Surrey, England. He was the son of Richard "Copped Hat" FitzAlan and Eleanor Plantagenet. On 17 February 1359, John married Eleanor de Maltravers. They had a daughter, Joan Fitzalan, born 1347 in Arundel, England and died 1 September 1404, and a son, John Fitzalan. John FitzAlan de Arundel died of drowning in the Irish Sea.
