Emory & Henry
was founded in
1836, and is the oldest
college in Southwest Virginia. The campus is in the village of Emory,
Virginia,
in the Virginia Highlands, one-half mile off Interstate 81 at exit 26.
The campus is near Virginia's
two highest peaks, Mount Rogers and Whitetop Mountain, and is not far
from Abingdon, Virginia, |
| Virginia Military Institute (VMI), located in
Lexington, Virginia was founded in 1839. It is a member of
the
Commonwealth of Virginia's system of higher education. The
Institute's
governing body is the Board of Visitors whose members are appointed by
the Governor. |
