A statue of Sir Galbraith Lowry Cole: b 1772- d 1842, stands on top of this monument in Fort Hill Park. He was one of Wellington's generals during the Peninsular War (1808-1814). A series of spiral steps lead to a platfom from which one can have a great view of Enniskillen. The monument was started in 1845 and took 12 years to complete.
