A. P. Hill


Robert Hill was born in 1570 in England.  He married Judith Atkinson. She along with her father William Atkinson left Plymouth, England on the ship Diamond.  They were part of the group that came during the terrible hurricane.  August 1609 the landed in Jamestown, Virginia.  Robert and Judith had a son named Edward.

Edward Hill was born in 1590 in England.  He married Mary Boyle in Elizabeth City, Virginia.  Edward died about 1631 in Virginia.  Edward and Mary's son was Thomas.

Thomas Hill was born in 1612 in England.  He married Mary Piersey in 1632.  Thomas died in 1659 in York County, Virginia.  Thomas and Mary's son was Thomas Hill.

Thomas Hill was born 6 October 1634 in York, Virginia.  He married Frances in 1657.  There son was Thomas Hill.

Thomas Hill was born 14 May 1658 in York County, Virginia.  He married Ann Russell 06 May 1677 in Virginia.  He died 03 August 1720 in Middlesex County, Virginia.  Their son was William Russell Hill. 

William Russell Hill was born 20 July 1684 in Middlesex County, Virginia.  He married Frances Needles, born 19 May 1690 in Middlesex County, VA.  They married 07 September 1710 in Middlesex County, Virginia.  There son was Russell Hill.

Russell Hill was born 22 February 1716 in Middlesex County, Virginia.  He married Ann Towles, daughter of Stokley Towles.  Russell and Ann's son was Henry Hill.

Henry Hill was born 7 October 1743 and died 12 Sept4ember 1815.  He married Anne Powell.  There son was Thomas Hill.

Thomas Hill was born 03 October 1789, he married Fannie Russell Baptist November 1811.  Thomas died 06 January 1857 and Fannie died 1853.  There son was Ambrose Powell Hill.

Ambrose Powell Hill was born 09 November 1825 in Culpeper, Virginia.  He married 18 July 1859.  He was killed 02 April 1865 in Petersburg, Dinwiddie County, Virginia.  He was known as General A. P. Hill and died in the Civil War.  A.P. Hill and Neale are 3rd Cousins 5 times removed.
While researching my Hill lineage we discovered General A. P. Hill was a distant cousin of mine. We thought it appropriate to include a page with  his information for those who might have an interest. At this time we have not included information concerning his involvement in the War Between the States as information about activities in that war are covered thoroughly elsewhere.
