I started the Nancy Hart Confederate Spy web site in 1994, after joining The Order of Confederate Rose, an organization for women dedicated to honoring ancestors who fought in the War Between the States. I am a member of The United Daughters of the Confederacy, but joined the OCR to help others interested in the War Between the States who could not join the UDC. The local chapter of this organization was the Nancy Hart Chapter, Chesapeake, Virginia. We decided to honor Nancy Hart for her bravery and determination in her cause. We wanted to give historical accuracy of occurrences during that period of time. The Order of Confederate Rose organization is no longer represented in my area. Since I admired Nancy Hart, The Confederate Spy, I created this web site as she had no |

what so ever when I began this endeavor. Now I
am delighted to see other web sites about her. Many West Virginia Counties and the State of West Virginia have linked to this web site. It makes me very proud to take part in informing interested people about her devotion to the Confederates States of America. Nancy Hart is one of the most visited web site's we have. School children write to me about how they admire her and want to portray her in their school events. I have left the Stephen and Mary Hart Family on this web site to clarify the genealogy of Nancy Hart, Confederate Spy. There has been confusion about her ancestry for many years. Now we know she was a daughter of John and Rebecca Hart. I appreciate the information and material Nancy Hart's descendants have given to me for use on this website. As far as I know, no one in my family is related to Nancy Hart. Any information about Nancy Hart is welcome. Click Here |
