Buford, Neale (Buddy) and Volga Clifton
Buford had a business, Clifton Typewriter Exchange on one side (left) we lived on the other side. The coal miner union ( John E. Lewis) went on strike and just about put Buford out of business, WWII broke out. Buford and Volga went to Portsmouth, Virginia.
At the time, I could not understand why the pretty Japanese Christmas lights I was used to seeing could not be put on our Christmas tree.

Buford worked in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as an electrician's helper, then, electrician during the rest of the war. Volga was a stay at home mom. Glattrus (Volga's sister) worked as a truck driver in the Norfolk Naval Ship Yard during the war. The NNSY is located in Portsmouth, VA.
