Stephen Hart Family
CORRECTIONS TO NANCY HART'S PARENTS
Per discussions with Del Hart, Julia
True Noah, Anna H., Steve and Pat Harold. Stephen and Mary Hart
are not the parents of Nancy Hart, Confederate Spy. She is the
daughter of John and Rebecca Hart. Both families lived in the area at
the same time and the gentleman who sent the research mistakenly picked
up the wrong family. I myself have researched this new
information and agree with these researchers. Some of them
are descendants of Stephen Hart. Both families had a child named
NANCY close to the same age. Of interest per Del Hart "The John
Hart and Stephen Hart families were in the same place at the same time.
Their children had similiar names but there was one major
difference. One was a Confederate family and one was the Union
family. Nancy Hart must be turning over in her grave by
genealogically being put in a Union family."
It is obvious that there are various
historical societies who have been making this same mistake for 20 to
30 years.
The
Hart family resided in Boone
County,
Virginia [West Virginia] on the 1850 U. S. Census.
