Projects |
The
Norfolk County Grays/Niemeyer-Shaw Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy
believes strongly in the five U.D.C. objectives. These objectives
are more than words to our chapter. Since our beginning, our
chapter members have always undertaken various projects in Chesapeake,
Virginia and other areas of Tidewater. |
Educational |
A scholarship was established several years ago. It is availableto a woman over thirty years of age, who is a descendent of a Confederate Veteran, to further her education. |
Patriotic |
Our chapter members visit and give items to the Veterans Hospital, Hampton, Virginia each year.
|
Memorial |
Each Memorial Day we meet, with the Norfolk County Grays Sons of Confederate Veterans, at the Jackson Greys Monument and place a wreath. We proceed to Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, Virginia, where last year the SCV and the UDC placed over 200 flags on the graves of Confederate Soldiers. |
Historical |
Members present programs to nursing homes and schools. We donate the UDC Magazine to six city libraries and schools. We make donations of books to schools and libraries. Benevolent |
Chapter members donate clothes to Veterans, Salvation Army and theChildren's Hospital of the Kings Daughters. We are always available for volunteer hours for community and civic organizations. |
